After 2 years, my fourth album, All Busted Up, is finally finished. Most of the tracks were written over 2 years ago about love, betrayal and loss when I was in a completely different headspace; compared to what I'm producing now, they're worlds apart. Nevertheless, releasing them is essential as I'm going through a massive transition in my life and can finally put all the toxicity in my rearview mirror.
The first single, Driving Me Crazy, is about finding yourself second-guessing everything in your life and is inspired by epic rock anthems like Comfortably Numb - By Pink Floyd and Sympathy for the Devil - By the Rolling Stones. With psychedelic whimsy, Driving Me Crazy takes you on a genre-bending journey through electronica, rock, and drum n bass. With a vintage film vocal thrown in for a bit of nostalgia. It has that spirit of grand adventure, scale a classic instrumental.
Having the freedom to take my time with this album has been very grounding; previous albums have been rushed with a sense of urgency, trying to fulfill someone else's agenda. I'm so fortunate to create like this. The last decade has been a marathon trying to save something already lost. So it's nice to experience this change of pace and hear how the music evolves in different directions, given all this room to explore.
